Popular Lagos monarch, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, the Oba Elegushi of Ikateland is celebrating 10 years anniversary as a King. The king who is known for his unique style and carriage has set himself apart from other monarchs in the world.
His Royal Majesty who is the 21st Monarch of Ikate-Elegushi was born on 10th of April 1976, into the royal Elegushi family, from Kusenla ruling house of Ikateland, Lagos State. He was, at the time, the youngest monarch in Lagos state at 34 years.
The 44 year old took to Instagram to celebrate this day with the caption “Today is a day of thanksgiving; a day of songs of praises and a day of gratitude. On this day, ten years ago, what seems like an impossible journey started, I had faith, I had courage and most importantly, we have uncommon grace. So join me, as I celebrate the 10th Year Anniversary of my coronation as the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom. We look forward to greater heights but we are not unmindful of our modest achievement these past ten years. To God indeed be the Glory. Peace and development is a continuous process for us.

Here are ten things you need to know about the stylish king:
1. Although he was not the first son of the late King of Ikate-Elegushi, Oba Yekini Elegushi, fortune favoured him. He is the third son and the fifth child of my father. But the wise men had told my father that he was a future king. He is regarded as one of the youngest Yoruba rulers.
2. When he was told he would be the 21st Monarch of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, he was afraid for his life because he didn’t want to die at a young age.
3. He had a political ambition; He was hoping to become the governor of Lagos someday. As a civil servant, he was aspiring to go to the House of Representatives. He had even set up his campaign office.
4. He worked with National Leader of All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu, asAt special assistant. He was also a special assistant to Raji Fashola and he learnt a lot from the two politicians.
5. He is building a new city like Eko Atlantic, known as Imperial City.
6. He tries to disguise whenever he goes to public places alone.
7. He shares the same birthday with his late father and he was one of the people who could confront him if things were wrong.
8. He always thought his father was bad with money or spent lavishly until he became a king. He now believes a king must be generous and cheerful to people.
9. He loves cars a lot. According to him, if you are hard working, you should enjoy.
10. He has two wives – Olori Sekinat and Olori Hadiza. He believes they don’t count wives for a king in Yorubaland. He’s also blessed with three daughters at the moment.
