VP Shettima Mourns Mother-in-law’s Passing

The mother-in-law of the Vice President’s wife, Mrs Nana Shettima, is set to be buried in Kano in accordance with Islamic customs.

Vice President, Sen Kashim Shettima is in mourning following the passing of Maryam Abubakar-Albishir, his mother-in-law.

Maryam passed away in Kano on Sunday after battling a long illness.

The Vice President’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed this information in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

Nkwocha described the deceased as a respected and generous mother in her community and a devout follower of Islam.

He said, “She was known for her wisdom, kindness, and commitment to charitable activities.

“Many will remember her as a pillar of support and counsel in her family and the broader Kano community.

“The nation expresses condolences to Vice President Shettima, Mrs Nana Shettima, and their relatives during this challenging period, while acknowledging the life and contributions of the late Hajiya Maryam Albishir.”
