Four Suspects Arrested for Killing Retired Army General in Abuja

FCT Police Arrest Suspected Killers Of Retired Army General In (via Primetweets)

The FCT Police Command has apprehended four suspects in connection with the murder of Army Brigadier General Uwem Udukwere in Abuja Sunshine Estate.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, disclosed that two of the robbers who are on the run took the retired general’s pistol.

The fugitives have been declared wanted, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.

Udukwere was killed during a robbery at his home in Sunshine Homes Estate, Abuja, in the early hours of Saturday.

It was reported that during the robbery, the attackers demanded jewelry, took the general’s pistol, and fatally shot him.

Air Commodore S.A Zakari (retd.), the Sergeant-At-Arms of the National Assembly, confirmed the general’s tragic demise.

According to Zakari, the widow of the general recounted that this was the third assault on their residence.

Providing details of the incident, the command released a statement saying, “According to Pastor Awe, a neighbor, the robbers injured one of the estate guards, who was taken to the hospital at Abacha Barracks along with Brig Gen H Udokwere rtd N/5575, the victim. While the injured guard received medical attention at Abacha Barracks Hospital, the General was transferred to the National Hospital Abuja.

Air Cdre MM Igho informed Air Cdre SA Zakari, who rushed to the National Hospital to provide support to the family. Zakari encountered the victim’s wife, son, and other neighbors. Upon arrival, Zakari was informed that Gen Udokwere had passed away and his body was at the National Hospital morgue.

Zakari met with the wife, provided reassurance, and reported the matter to Maj Gen Dr Okereke. The NAOWA Hospital Commander dispatched an ambulance to transport the late General Udokwere’s body to the NAOWA Hospital where his death was confirmed.”
