Notable social media commentator, VeryDarkMan, has made a comeback online.
This follows his older sibling’s request for the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
Prior to his abrupt absence from social media, he had not shared any posts for a span of two days.
In light of his disappearance, VeryDarkMan’s brother, Mark Otse, appealed to Nigerians on Sunday morning to pray for him in their respective places of worship, mentioning that “it’s challenging to articulate what is happening”.
In a video posted on his Instagram, Mark expressed “Good morning everyone, I won’t say much. Just please pray for VeryDarkMan. He hasn’t shared anything for two days now. Many of you have been asking ‘where is VeryDarkMan?’ Honestly, I’m unsure how to convey this right now. This is really tough for me”.
His plea for prayers heightened worries regarding VeryDarkMan’s situation.
Breaking his silence, VeryDarkMan shared, “I genuinely hope everyone can grasp this. I’ve been unable to post in recent hours because I’m overwhelmed; the violence between herdsmen and farmers is too devastating. For the past five days, I’ve struggled to sleep, constantly seeking answers and conducting research to understand the underlying issues, and it’s been highly stressful for me.”
“The killings in Benue didn’t just begin; the tragedies in Jos Plateau date back 10 to 15 years with the same patterns, the same reactions (protests, visits by security officials to victims and affected areas) — everything remains unchanged. The real question isn’t when it will end, but how it can be stopped. What has the government failed to learn? There have been numerous successes and equally many failures. My mind is bogged down with thoughts I can’t articulate. Anyway, I won’t spoil your Sunday with my worries, so wishing you all a happy Sunday.”
