Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, expressed confidence in Olatunji Bello’s capabilities as a seasoned lawyer and journalist, bringing a wealth of experience to his new role.

President Tinubu has appointed Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
In a statement, it was highlighted that Bello brings a substantial background having previously served in roles such as Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Commissioner for Environment, and held editorial positions at Concord Newspapers and This Day Newspapers.
The announcement stated;
“President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), pending confirmation by the Senate.
Mr. Bello’s profile includes being a lawyer, administrator, and renowned journalist. He holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002 after studying Law at the same university.
His journalism career commenced at the Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he took on roles such as Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor, National Concord. Bello is a recipient of the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and served as the Chairman of the Editorial Board of THISDAY Newspapers in 2001.
In addition, he has experience as a Commissioner for Environment under various administrations in Lagos State.
The President anticipates that the new Chief Executive Officer will effectively fulfill the FCCPC’s mission of safeguarding the interests and welfare of Nigerian consumers, along with ensuring the quality and safety of goods and services.”
