Teenage Girl Fatally Shot at Friend’s Residence in South Africa

Shanté Adams, a 17-year-old girl, tragically lost her life after being shot at her friend’s house in Voorbrug, Delft, South Africa. The incident, which occurred on June 30, 2024, was confirmed by the advocacy group, Women For Change, in a statement released on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Shanté was spending time with friends when unidentified assailants fired shots through the roof of the Wendy’s house where they were gathered. Tragically, Shanté was hit in the head and succumbed to her injuries at the scene despite efforts by medical personnel.

The police have initiated a murder investigation into the case, although no arrests have been made so far. Shanté’s family disclosed that she is the third family member to fall victim to gun violence, following the fatal shootings of her uncles aged 18 and 28 on the same street in 2019 and 2021.

Regrettably, the perpetrators behind the previous murders remain at large, leaving Shanté’s family bereft of hope for justice. Shanté, a 10th-grade student at Voorburg Secondary School, was described as a compassionate and promising young individual.
