Following non-compliance with regulations, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the operations of 10 private jet companies for failing to start the recertification process.
The announcement was made by Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, in a statement released in Abuja.
According to the NCAA, holders of Permits for Non-Commercial Flights (PNCF) are prohibited from using their aircraft for commercial purposes as per the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 Part 18.3.4.
As a response to non-compliance, the NCAA had directed all PNCF holders to undergo re-evaluation by April 19, 2024. Failure to adhere to this led to the suspension of PNCFs for companies like Azikel Dredging Nigeria Ltd, Bli-Aviation Safety Services, and others.
The NCAA has warned PNCF holders against engaging in commercial activities and stressed that any violation would result in enforcement actions.
To ensure adherence to the rules, NCAA officials are monitoring the activities of PNCF holders at General Aviation Terminals (GAT) and private wings of airports.
