Renowned scholar Cao Huy Thuan passes away in France

Professor Cao Huy Thuan, a French national of Vietnamese descent, was born in Hue, Vietnam. He pursued law studies at the University of Saigon from 1955 to 1960, later teaching at the University of Hue before moving to France for advanced studies and residence.

Professor Cao Huy Thuan was a prolific author in French, focusing on political science and international relations. Some of his significant works published in Vietnam include:

His works on philosophy, culture, and literature garnered admiration from Vietnamese readers.

Venerable Thich Hai An, Director of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue City, praised Professor Thuan’s profound connection to his homeland. He frequently lectured at the academy and partook in cultural events organized by the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha’s Central Cultural Committee. Tu Dam Pagoda will establish a memorial, and the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue will host a commemorative event.

The timing of the memorial service will be decided by his family, with updates from the academy to ensue.

In 2017, Professor Cao Huy Thuan was honored with the 10th Phan Chau Trinh Cultural Award, recognizing his valuable contributions to Vietnamese culture and education across various fields: culture and education, translation, research, and Vietnam studies.
