Harnessing Knowledge and AI: Vietnam’s Path to Global Influence

Launch of Strategic Human Resources Alliance Highlights Entrepreneurial Spirit

During the launch event for the Strategic Human Resources Alliance on May 7, Binh reflected on a vital aspect of Resolution 68-NQ/TW, recently endorsed by General Secretary To Lam: “Entrepreneurs embody the spirit of warriors in the economic landscape.”

Binh shared an anecdote from Vietnam’s history. He recounted how President Ho Chi Minh tasked General Vo Nguyen Giap with founding a military academy, later known as Tran Quoc Tuan Military School, emphasizing the importance of teaching national history.

For Binh, this principle remains pertinent today; it is crucial for current citizens and future generations to foster a sense of patriotism and confidence in Vietnam’s ability to evolve into a prosperous and advanced nation.

“General Vo Nguyen Giap once articulated that just as the past showcased the victory at Dien Bien Phu, the youth of today must aim for new, illustrious achievements. To assert our place on the global stage, we require a new approach—one centered on knowledge and technology,” Binh asserted.

Binh underscored the “strategic quartet” proposed by the Prime Minister, which he believes is vital for consistent national development.

  • First, the institutions should serve as competitive advantages instead of hindrances.
  • Second, governance must be efficient, streamlined, and integrated with technological solutions.
  • Third, the leaders should be exceptionally talented, with a commitment to serve the nation and its people.
  • Lastly, technology should facilitate significant advancements across all initiatives, from planning to execution.

Building on this framework, Binh emphasized the urgent need for a generation enriched with knowledge and expertise in artificial intelligence (AI). The spirit of national unity that once inspired historic achievements must fuel this commitment to innovation at every level, from local communities to the government.

“We require students proficient in technology and foreign languages, capable of collaborating with leading global experts,” Binh asserted.

In closing, he stated, “Let’s work together to cultivate a new generation of talent—transforming fears of AI replacing jobs into opportunities for Vietnam to ascend as a leader in the global workforce for AI and management. This poses not just a challenge but our greatest opportunity.”

Additionally, Le Thanh Tung from VietinBank praised the timely nature of Resolution 57, emphasizing its potential to drive societal progress, especially in the context of digital transformation.

He cautioned that in the face of growing international competition, a failure to adapt could lead to stagnation and eventual obsolescence.

From an educational standpoint, Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board at FPT University, remarked on the need for the education sector to move away from outdated models. He pointed out that the rapid advancements in AI are dramatically changing learning methods, content, and purposes.

Without significant reform in the educational system—especially in implementing Resolutions 68 and 59—Vietnam’s youth could miss crucial opportunities and fall behind in the evolving landscape.
