The Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMMAF) is fully backing the ambitious MMA tournament initiated by Johnny Tri Nguyen.
Johnny Tri Nguyen is committed to providing unwavering support to the fighters in this season of GMA, with the goal of establishing the tournament as a breeding ground for future legends and delivering electrifying matches that embody the essence of martial arts.
In a departure from the traditional octagon setup, GMA will host bouts in a hexagonal ring with ropes and an expansive open area, resembling rings used in modern sports such as boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and free fighting.
GMA comprises five weight divisions: 55kg, 57kg, 59kg, 63kg, and 68kg. The inaugural event on August 24 will feature quarterfinal clashes where four fighters per weight class will battle it out in knockout rounds to advance to the semifinals on October 26.
The victors of the semifinals will then challenge one of the six reigning or former Vietnamese champions from local MMA tournaments in the grand finale on December 28, competing for both the championship belt and the prestigious title of “Than Vo Viet Nam” (Vietnamese Martial Arts God).
