Upon returning from work, a young woman, L.H, was shocked to discover an unwanted TikTok video of her in a bikini at Sam Son beach. The video, featuring close-ups of sensitive body parts, garnered hundreds of views and demeaning comments, leaving her distraught and humiliated.
L.H revealed that during a beach trip, a man approached them under the guise of an interview request, only to film them without consent, with her face being prominently featured in the video.
The video quickly circulated, leading to unwarranted criticism and harassment towards L.H, even spilling over to her social media accounts, causing her immense distress.
Despite her attempts to have the video removed and receiving derogatory messages, the man remained unresponsive and defiant when confronted by the affected girls.
Feeling helpless and reluctant to involve the authorities due to fears of further exposure and backlash, L.H resorted to isolating herself and avoiding public spaces to shield herself from further humiliation.
Overwhelmed by the situation, she grappled with the pervasive shame and anxiety, eventually withdrawing from social activities and struggling to cope with the aftermath of the video’s dissemination.
A social media account dedicated to filming unsuspecting girls at beaches in the northern regions and sharing the clips on TikTok came under scrutiny, prompting backlash and subsequent account restrictions following a public outcry.
The account owner, known as ‘L.T.T’, faced backlash for his unethical filming practices, with the account eventually restricting access and limiting the distribution of over 700 videos, reflecting the severity of the issue.
