Five Suspects Apprehended for Robbery and Cultism in Delta State

Police Arrest Five Robbers Cultists In Delta (via Primetweets)

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five individuals suspected of being involved in armed robbery and cult activities in Oghara, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the State. The suspects are Ochuko Joel Ofoye, 35, Michael Anwul, 29, Innocent Esefeta, 31, and Ogaga Ebuke, 27.

During the arrest, authorities seized two AK-47 magazines, 29 rounds of live ammunition, and a homemade pistol with a live cartridge hidden in a shoe.

SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Command, disclosed this information in a statement released on Monday in Asaba. He mentioned that due to a rise in cult-related incidents, kidnappings, and armed robberies in Sapele, Oghara, and nearby areas, the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, instructed a team to collaborate with the DPOS Oghara and Sapele Division to address the issue.

In a covert intelligence-led operation on June 18, 2024, ASP Julius Robinson’s team arrested five suspects belonging to different syndicates of cultists and suspected robbers at various locations in Oghara Town. The suspects are Ochuko Joel Ofoye, Michael Anwul, Great Ojareri, Innocent Esefeta, and Ogaga Ebuke, all allegedly affiliated with different confraternities.

The suspects are currently in custody, and an investigation into their activities is underway.
