Ogun State to Conduct Local Government Elections on November 16

The announcement regarding the forthcoming local government elections in Ogun State was made by Mr Babatunde Osibodu, the Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, through an official statement released to the press in Abeokuta.

The scheduled date for the local government elections in Ogun State is Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Mr Babatunde Osibodu, the Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, revealed this in a statement that was also shared with journalists in Abeokuta.

In line with the statement, Osibodu stated, “Thursday, August 8, 2024, has been set for the release of guidelines for the election process and a meeting with stakeholders. Political parties will kick off their campaigns from Friday, August 9.

“The political parties are set to conduct their primary elections between Monday, August 26, and Monday, September 9, 2024.”

Previously, Mr Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, refuted rumors circulating on social media claiming that the local government elections were scheduled for October 26, 2024.

The elected local government officials recently concluded their term in office.
