Michelle Hempstead, a 33-year-old mother of five, was tragically killed by her own dog in her Southend flat just weeks after the loss of her daughter.
She was attacked by a Bullmastiff-type breed, resulting in severe injuries to her left arm.
Witnesses recounted how Ms. Hempstead attempted to flee by climbing over her balcony railing, only to collapse near a nearby play area.
Upon hearing her cries, neighbors rushed to her aid and administered first aid before she was taken to the hospital.
Despite efforts to save her, she passed away the following day at the Royal London Hospital.
Recently, it was revealed that Ms. Hempstead’s daughter had also passed away on June 4.
A close friend, Liah Smith, initiated an online fundraiser to cover funeral expenses and assist her children, highlighting the family’s double tragedy.
The inquiry into Ms. Hempstead’s death has been postponed pending a police inquiry.
