The will of the late Chief (Engr. Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a prominent Nigerian figure and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has recently been disclosed to his family a year after his death, and it includes a contentious clause.
Chief Iwuanyanwu was married to his first wife, Lady Eudora Nnenna Ozinyereaku Iwuanyanwu, for over four decades until her death on August 28, 2011, at the age of 63.
In 2013, at 72 years old, he wed 26-year-old Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem.
He passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving behind a 37-year-old widow and a son from that marriage.
On June 16, 2025, details of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s purported will were released by TheWill News Media.
The will, prepared by Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), outlines how the late politician’s estate will be distributed among his family and designated individuals.
Among its notable clauses is the inheritance of the well-known “Legacy House” on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, which has been bequeathed to Frances, albeit with a restriction against selling it.
In addition to this property, she will also receive Magil Furniture, a company formerly operated by Iwuanyanwu’s late first wife, Eudora, as well as shares in real estate properties located in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze in Imo State.
The will further states that if Frances decides to remarry, she would lose all her inheritances.
The couple’s son will be given ownership of the family home in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the London property is set to be sold, with profits allocated as follows: 60% for the education of Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son, 30% to his eldest son Jide, and 10% to Ezinne, the current resident, to assist with her relocation.
Iwuanyanwu also mandated that the “Glass House” near the Orji flyover be converted into a public entity, managed by an independent board to facilitate charitable and community projects.
Other significant assets located in Abuja, Imo, and various other areas in Nigeria have been evenly divided among Iwuanyanwu’s five children.
