Mallam Garba Bala Abubakar, the former Registrar of Borno Cooperatives Society, lost his life along with his wife and two daughters in a tragic fire incident at his home on Damboa road in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to a family source, the heartbreaking event occurred on Sunday morning, August 18, 2024.
The fire claimed the lives of the husband, wife, and their two daughters.
A friend of the deceased, confirming the incident through a Facebook post, described Abubakar as a “very humble” and “down to earth” individual.
The fire outbreak is suspected to have been caused by an electrical surge.
“The deceased held the position of Chief Registrar of Cooperative Societies with the Borno State Government before retiring and later worked with a private borehole drilling company,” the friend shared.
He further added, “Not long ago, we had an extensive conversation on various issues and I promised to visit him in his new home whenever I was in Maiduguri. Little did I know that it would be the last time I heard his voice. Allahu Akbar.”
“A humble and kind-hearted soul has departed, along with beloved members of his immediate family. They have already been laid to rest in Maiduguri. May Allah (swt) grant them entry into Aljannah Firdausih,” he concluded.
