David Copperfield denounced by neighbors after 'disappearing' from New York apartment

The luxurious Galleria building in midtown Manhattan accommodated the apartment of the renowned magician, David Copperfield, who left his residence in a disturbing state, causing discontent among the neighbors.

The new occupant of Copperfield‘s former apartment shared evidence of its deplorable condition after the magician’s departure. Witnesses described the living space as extremely unkempt and unhygienic.

“I think I heard about it from my neighbor, who in turn heard about it from the janitor,” recounted Emma Ruth Yulo-Kitiyakara, 78, a former resident who viewed images of Copperfield‘s apartment.

The incident occurred in 1997 during the magician’s heyday. The once magnificent four-story penthouse deteriorated over time, posing challenges for other residents of the building.

A Lavish Property

The Galleria building’s residents were accustomed to seeing celebrities and affluent individuals due to the property’s opulence and regular maintenance services. However, Copperfield‘s flat did not receive the same level of care.

Copperfield‘s intricate history with New York appears to be on hold for now, potentially complicating his future property prospects in the city.

Currently residing in Las Vegas, David Copperfield performs a show called ‘An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion’ 15 times a week. His attorney, Matthew A. Cuomo, dismissed the allegations as exaggerated, categorizing them as a mere insurance claim.
