Gunmen invaded Ogbaru Local Government Area secretariat, causing damage to several buildings and assets.
According to sources, the armed men arrived in a large group and began shooting, resulting in destruction within the council area’s headquarters.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported during the incident.
While specific details about the assault are limited at this time, law enforcement officials have verified the event.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated: “The attack occurred at Ogbaru LGA in the early hours of the day, 30/8/2024.
“Security forces bravely confronted the gunmen, although some local government properties were damaged, including several buildings, but no lives were lost.”
He mentioned that a joint security operation is currently underway in the region.
This is not the first instance of gunmen targeting the Ogbaru Local Government headquarters.
In a previous attack on the secretariat, structures and vehicles on the premises were set ablaze. The identity of the perpetrators remains unclear, yet suspicions frequently fall on separatist groups.
