Despite their long friendship, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are no longer as close as before, with Gomez feeling separated from Swift’s inner circle of friends.
Insiders suggest that Gomez has become less interested in being part of Swift’s group, which includes Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice, and Brittany Mahomes, leading to their drifting apart.
“Selena feels like she has outgrown Taylor’s group,” a source told DailyMail.com. “She prefers not to be around Blake or Ice Spice, or any of those girls now.”
Earlier this year, Gomez hinted at feeling excluded when she commented on an Instagram photo of Swift with her friends at the Super Bowl, adding a sad emoji alongside a black heart.
Gomez was notably absent at Swift‘s Rhode Island gathering in August, raising further questions about their relationship.
Insiders say Gomez now feels like an outsider. “She no longer participates in group outings,” another source mentioned.
Reports also suggest tension between Gomez and Lively, with the two choosing to spend time with Swift separately over the years.
Relationships Impacting their Friendship
One reason for the decrease in public appearances together could be their focus on their respective relationships.
Gomez has been in a relationship with musician Benny Blanco since the summer of 2023, while Swift’s romance with NFL star Travis Kelce has been in the spotlight. Sources mention that the two couples have little in common, making double dates unlikely.
