PDP Criticizes Tinubu Following Labour Leader’s Arrest

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has spoken out against the detention of Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Ajaero was taken into custody on Monday by officials from the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

PDP expressed strong disapproval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding this incident.

During a press briefing in Abuja, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, held Tinubu accountable for the arrests.

Recently, many Nigerians protested in various cities, expressing their frustrations over the challenging economic conditions between August 1 and 10.

“We must exercise caution. There was a nationwide protest that the government ignored. Instead, they arrest individuals, labeling them as terrorists and subsequently taking them to court. They allege that some people funded the protest.

“We know who the true sponsors are—the sponsors are suffering. The government needs to confront the issue of hunger. Only then will we see fewer problems. The harsh policies in place are pushing people into dire situations. With schools reopening, the challenges people face are evident,” stated the PDP spokesperson.
