Manchester City vs. Brentford: Predicted Lineups, Injury Updates, and Grealish’s Quest for Consistency

Man City vs. Brentford lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news and injuries: Jack Grealish to continue England form?

This season, Manchester City has started strong, winning all three of their matches to claim the top spot in the Premier League.

Erling Haaland has been in outstanding form, adding to his goal tally with two consecutive hat-tricks following his initial goal against Chelsea in the season opener.

However, Brentford, managed by Thomas Frank, has historically been a tough challenge for City. Last season, they were the only club to beat Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning team twice, and they suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at the Etihad Stadium, with Haaland scoring the winner.

The Sporting News discusses the team updates, injury statuses, and expected lineups for this upcoming match.

Predicted lineups for Man City vs. Brentford

Jack Grealish made his season debut at West Ham prior to the international break and later netted a goal for England against the Republic of Ireland. He is expected to retain his starting position, despite Savinho returning from injury that sidelined him at the London Stadium.

Phil Foden, who missed the last matches due to illness, hopes to return. Meanwhile, Rodri, another Ballon d’Or contender, is set to make his first appearance this season.

Defender Nathan Ake likely won’t participate, having sustained an injury during the Netherlands’ recent UEFA Nations League match against Germany.

Man City predicted XI (3-2-4-1): Ederson (GK) — Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Lewis, Rodri — Savinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Grealish — Haaland.

Injured: Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb, Phil Foden (doubt)
Suspended: None

This will be Brentford’s first match since the departure of talented forward Ivan Toney to the Saudi Pro League, but the team has secured six points from their first three games without him.

So far this season, Haaland is the only player outperforming Bryan Mbeumo, who has managed three goals for Brentford. New signings Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho may once again start on the bench.

Kristoffer Ajer, who was substituted early against Southampton, is out with an ankle injury, making Mads Roerslev the likely starter at right-back.

Brentford predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Flekken (GK) — Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Janelt — Norgaard — Mbeumo, Jensen, Damsgaard, Schade — Wissa

Injured: Kristoffer Ajer, Rico Henry, Igor Thiago, Josh Dasilva, Aaron Hickey
Suspended: None
