Liverpool Defeats Southampton 3-2 in Thrilling Encounter

Coach Arne Slot acknowledged that his team appeared to be a bit off in the first half, likely due to a taxing international break, but they managed to respond effectively as the game progressed.

“I noticed the intensity I expected in the first half during the second half. Southampton creates problems for many teams, including top clubs, and they were challenging today, even if we controlled the match,” Slot shared after the game with BBC Sport.

“We lacked urgency to penetrate the box in the first half, preferring to maintain possession rather than attacking. Nevertheless, after falling behind, we displayed the necessary urgency and intensity, resulting in more scoring opportunities and ultimately two goals.”

Slot also provided updates on injuries ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming UEFA Champions League match against the reigning champions, Real Madrid, on November 27.

Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota are anticipated to miss this important clash, with Caoimhin Kelleher set to take over as goalkeeper.

A decision regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s hamstring injury will be made before kickoff, while Conor Bradley is prepared to step in as a replacement for the England star.
