“Dino Melaye’s Kogi Governorship Bid: A Twist of Irony, Says PDP Chairman”

Dino Melaye Ran For Kogi Governorship But Didnt Vote For (via Primetweets)

Umar Iliya Damagum, who is currently acting as the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed concern regarding the ongoing issues within the party.

He emphasized the importance of party loyalty while addressing the actions of Dino Melaye during the recent Kogi governorship elections.

In a recent discussion with Daily Trust, Damagum responded to comments made by Senator Melaye, who labeled the PDP as a “once upon a time party.” Damagum did not hold back and placed some blame for the party’s difficulties squarely on Melaye.

Damagum stated, “Let me remind you about that statement credited to Dino. He’s part of the problem,” referring to Melaye’s gubernatorial campaign in Kogi State, during which, he noted, the senator failed to vote for himself. “Put that on record: he didn’t go out to vote in his own election,” he stressed, pointing out what he sees as a lack of dedication to the party.

The PDP chairman further questioned Melaye’s contributions, suggesting that those who represent the party must work to enhance its reputation. He acknowledged that winning and losing are inherent to the political landscape, but highlighted that candidates should at least strive to lose “credibly” to uphold the party’s integrity.
