Bode George, a distinguished member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has declared that the party has been revitalized.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he made this announcement.
This revelation came right after a significant National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting aimed at addressing the ongoing challenges within the PDP.
“We have effectively begun the revival today. An iroko tree remains unyielding; this party mirrors that strength, with roots that run deep,” George stated.
He pointed out that certain politicians have prioritised their interests, straying from the vision set forth by the party’s founders.
“We have gained insights, and that was the essence of our discussions yesterday and today. It took me back to the height of our journey as a political entity. I emerged from the sessions feeling invigorated,” he shared.
“The NEC discussions highlighted our shortcomings and the actions that led us here. This is not a party owned by a single person; no one can lay exclusive claim to it,” he emphasized.
The seasoned leader also mentioned that Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, urged members to move away from selfishness and embrace a spirit of altruism.
When asked if he would consider switching allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the octogenarian firmly declined, criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s policies and lamenting the prevailing hardships in the nation.
He asserted that the APC did not genuinely secure victory in the 2023 presidential election, claiming that the electoral process was flawed.
