The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, emphasizes that her role is strongly supported by President Bola Tinubu.

During her participation in the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York, she reaffirmed her commitment to transforming the current narratives surrounding her position.

Kennedy-Ohanenye mentioned her dedication to aligning her initiatives with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on improving the lives of Nigerians.

“If I didn’t have Mr. President’s backing, I would have been dismissed by now; that’s how it usually works with presidents.”

“I have taken significant steps to address issues I find unacceptable in my role, and I’ve faced no consequences for doing so. My intention here is to reshape our strategies; I will persist until we see results.

“Currently, I’ve collaborated with UNICEF, and soon UN Women will be involved. I aim to make it challenging for anyone to operate in our country the way they have in the past.

“There must be change; the existing narrative needs a makeover. I came here with specific goals because last year, I left with nothing. Many other nations often return without any gains, in my opinion.

“If anyone claims to have achieved anything, I’d like to hear about it. It’s time to focus on seeing results. We must revise our action plans, replacing the ineffective strategies with approaches that reflect our identity and that can truly benefit our citizens, thereby supporting the less fortunate in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” she expressed in a discussion with Arise TV.
