On September 24, the Army announced that their latest operations successfully dismantled a kidnapping network, resulting in the safe return of victims and the arrest of a suspected arms supplier.

Nigerian Army operations in the North East led to the neutralization of eight key terrorists, aiming to further reduce the presence of insurgents in the area.

The military recovered an array of weapons during the missions. In a statement released on September 24, they highlighted that on September 22, troops in Borno State successfully prevented a terrorist supply raid, resulting in the elimination of three attackers in a fierce encounter.

“The troops seized a light machine gun, an AK-47, hand grenades, numerous magazines, and a quantity of linked ammunition along with cash and a mobile phone left at the scene,” the statement detailed.

Additionally, during another operation, troops intercepted terrorists transporting kidnapped individuals near Uvaha village in Gwoza Local Government Area. Despite adverse weather conditions, the soldiers engaged the assailants, killing one and prompting the others to retreat, allowing for the rescue of 16 hostages, including 10 men and 6 women. A subsequent search yielded grenades and other items.

In Yobe State, troops executed a strategic ambush based on credible intelligence about terrorists receiving supplies, resulting in the elimination of four militants in the Gujba area, along with the capture of two AK-47 rifles and additional items.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, soldiers acted on credible leads concerning a collaborator known for supplying weapons to terrorists. A coordinated operation led to the apprehension of a suspect in the Kugbo area with 178 rounds of concealed ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash.

“These actions demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and crime. Citizens are encouraged to continue providing valuable information to aid security efforts,” the statement concluded.
