Solomon Okoduwa, who previously served as a Senior Special Assistant to Edo State’s Governor Godwin Obaseki, expressed his support for the newly elected Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
He emphasized that Okpebholo’s victory is a triumph for all residents of Edo State.
In his statement, Okoduwa suggested that Okpebholo’s success is a form of divine retribution for the incumbent’s actions.
He attributed Obaseki’s defeat to what he described as the Governor’s malice, grievances, and authoritative conduct.
Okoduwa remarked, “Okpebholo has a genuine nature. His approach to issues and engagement with people show his humility.
“It’s evident in the protests from returnees, who preferred Okpebholo over the incumbent.”
“God intended to discipline Obaseki by allowing him to lose, due to his mistreatment of returnees and other Edo indigenes.”
“His downfall stemmed from his unkindness, authoritative style, inability to forgive, and personal vendettas.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed Okpebholo as the victor of the recent Saturday election.
Representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), Okpebholo received 291,667 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party’s Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes. The Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata came in third with 22,763 votes.
