Meta AI to Launch in Vietnamese Language

Meta’s new AI initiative will be available in Vietnamese and accessible for free. On October 1, during the 2024 Vietnam Innovation Day, Clegg shared insights with local media regarding Meta’s plans for the Vietnamese market.

This visit marked Clegg’s first trip to Vietnam since becoming Meta’s President of Global Affairs, a position he took on in 2022 after two decades of experience across Europe and the UK.

AI Virtual Assistant Coming Soon

Before the year concludes, Meta is set to launch an AI-driven virtual assistant tailored for Vietnamese businesses. This assistant will be integrated with the Messenger app, designed to foster communication with clients and boost efficiency.

Manufacturing VR Technology in Vietnam

Clegg also announced that the Quest 3S, a virtual reality headset, will be produced in Vietnam. He emphasized, “We will collaborate with local partners to manufacture the product here, which is expected to create around 1,000 new jobs, positioning Vietnam as a hub for metaverse technology and products globally.”

Human-like Interaction with Meta AI

During his visit, Clegg highlighted that Meta AI will enable human-like interactions and will be incorporated into platforms such as Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Users will be able to ask questions and receive prompt responses.

“Currently, Meta AI is not available in Europe, but we aim to roll it out in Vietnam, supporting the Vietnamese language at no cost,” he stated.

Recognition of Vietnam’s Digital Growth

Clegg’s statements illustrated Meta’s faith in Vietnam’s burgeoning online market and its prosperous growth trajectory. When asked how Vietnam’s digital economy compares to its regional peers, he cited Vietnam’s advantages: a youthful demographic, quality education, and widespread digital technology adoption.

Focus on Education and Training

“Effective use of AI hinges on understanding it, which stems from a solid education and training system. This is why Meta is committed to offering AI training programs,” he stated, expressing optimism about Vietnam becoming a regional powerhouse.

Upcoming AI Training Partnership

Meta intends to partner with Hanoi National University to initiate AI capability training courses for students, targeting a launch in January 2025.
