Ronaldo Poised to Break More International Records with New Portugal Call-Up

Cristiano Ronaldo can extend men

Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal’s national team by coach Roberto Martinez for the upcoming international fixtures during the October break. He will aim to build on two of his existing records.

Martinez has named the 39-year-old Ronaldo and his Al Nassr teammate Otavio in a squad of 26 players for the UEFA Nations League matches against Poland on October 12 and Scotland on October 15.

During a press briefing, Martinez expressed confidence in Ronaldo and Diogo Jota as solid options for the forward position, indicating that both players are likely to participate in the matches.

This opportunity allows the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to further solidify his record in international football, where he already holds the highest records in goals scored and matches played.

Ronaldo’s Milestones in International Football

Ronaldo is recognized as the player with the most caps in men’s international football, with his next match set to be his 215th—an achievement no other male player has attained beyond 200 appearances.

His long-time competitor, Lionel Messi, currently ranks fourth and has a significant distance to cover to reach Ronaldo’s record.

When it comes to scoring, Ronaldo leads with 132 international goals, ahead of all male players, including Messi.

In his last international outing, Ronaldo surpassed the 900-goal mark in his career, further demonstrating that he continues to aim high in setting new records.
