Preparation for 2025 High School Exams and University Admissions

The Prime Minister has laid out a plan for the effective organization of the 2025 national high school graduation exams and university admissions. These exams will be notably important, as they will be the first conducted under the updated 2018 general education curriculum.

This directive, signed on October 7, aims to alleviate stress and expenses for students and their families. The government’s goal is to maintain the exams’ credibility, transparency, and alignment with students’ genuine capabilities, while also assisting universities and vocational schools in their selection processes.

The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) to create exam guidelines, schedule the exams, and provide clear instructions to local authorities. It is vital to ensure that the preparation and execution of the exams are well-coordinated, minimizing any surprises for students and educators.

Moreover, MoET is expected to design a consistent set of sample exam questions that will aid teachers and students in their preparations. The ministry is also responsible for guaranteeing the security and quality of exam questions, alongside enhancing the system used for managing exam results. Local authorities must ensure that grading is conducted fairly and transparently.

The directive underscored the necessity for an overhauled admissions process that enhances fairness and transparency, while offering students diverse options. This process aims to help students choose academic fields that match their strengths and future career aspirations within the framework of the new curriculum.

Looking ahead, MoET has been encouraged to start preparations for implementing computer-based testing for multiple-choice exams as part of the 2025-2030 strategy. It is crucial to secure the required resources, including personnel, finances, and infrastructure, ahead of time.

Additionally, the Prime Minister has requested more rigorous inspections to deter cheating and ensure fairness and transparency in the exam and admissions processes.

Provincial and city administrations are also mandated to take full charge of organizing the exams in their regions. They must guide local education authorities to uphold high standards in teaching, tutoring, and assessments as per the 2018 curriculum.
