Fubara Remains a PDP Member, Claims Bala Mohammed

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State and head of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has confirmed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State continues to be a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

This declaration follows the recent establishment of local government officials from various parties.

In the recent council elections, the Action Peoples Party (APP) dominated, winning 22 of the 23 chairperson positions, while the Action Alliance captured one.

The APP also secured 314 out of 319 councillor positions across the state’s 23 local government areas.

Fubara went on to officially swear in the new council chairpersons on Sunday.

In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Bala praised Fubara for his leadership and for setting an example among Nigerian governors.

Mohammed noted that Fubara has effectively used his democratic skills to promote governance at the local level, demonstrating that party affiliation should not hinder political progress.

The chairman reinforced that Rivers State remains a stronghold for the PDP, despite the new local officials belonging to different parties.

He remarked, “Absolutely, he is still one of us. He continues to embody PDP values, and I stand here on behalf of the Governors to endorse his proactive democratic approach, which is a fresh development in Nigeria’s political landscape. He has made it possible for multiple parties to engage in governance, ensuring there is no political void.”

“He didn’t have the party’s organizational structure readily available due to various factors, so he facilitated participation from other parties, which I believe is commendable and inventive, making me quite proud of him. Although we faced setbacks as a party, we are determined to move forward.”

“He has solidified his position as a governor and a source of pride for all governors in Nigeria.”
