On Wednesday, October 9, SP Omolola Odutola, a spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, reported an incident involving a victim who lost her iPhone 13 Pro Max worth N840,000, N50,000 in cash, and her boyfriend was coerced into paying a N200,000 ransom.

Two siblings, Femi and Kayode Fagbohun, have been apprehended by the Ogun State Police for the alleged kidnapping, robbery, and assault of a 17-year-old girl from Abeokuta.

The young woman reported that on June 3, 2024, she took an online taxi ride in a Toyota Camry (registration number EKP 352 AE) driven by Femi, traveling from Lekki in Lagos to Abeokuta Garage in Mowe.

Upon reaching Deeper Life Church in Mowe, another individual, Kayode, entered the car wielding a broken bottle and threatened her life if she screamed. Femi then drove the vehicle away to an undisclosed location.

During the drive, she was told she was kidnapped and instructed to contact someone for her ransom payment.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the victim was robbed of her iPhone 13 Pro Max, N50,000 in cash, and her boyfriend had to send N200,000 for her release.

Odutola stated the victim was taken to a secluded area at Omu Junction, Ofada, where she endured further violence from her abductors.

“The victim notified the police on Monday around 10:02 AM regarding her ordeal while traveling from Lagos to Mowe, after booking an online ride,” she recounted.

“She stated she was kidnapped and asked to call for ransom. Her boyfriend, Akinwale Williams, transferred N200,000 to an FCMB account under Awanatu Hamzat Adejoke’s name. Additionally, N50,000 cash and her iPhone valued at N840,000 were stolen.”

“Following her complaint, investigators traced her phone to Tunde Ajayi of Oke Sioni Imedu Mowe, who directed them to Kayode Fagbohun, aged 41 from Shodeko village Ofada.

“Kayode confessed to entering the car and threatening the victim, also acknowledging that his brother, Femi, aged 43 and residing in Akeem Blocks Ofada, was the driver.”

Both suspects disclosed they sold the vehicle used in the incident.

Odutola revealed that an unregistered blue Toyota Camry was recovered from them.

“This case will be forwarded to the SCID Eleweran Abeokuta for further inquiry.”
