Female Ammunition Trafficker Arrested in Yobe State
The Yobe State Police have apprehended a 54-year-old woman suspected of trafficking ammunition, hailing from Jakana town in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. This arrest occurred as she was allegedly transporting ammunition from Buni Yadi to Damaturu.
According to a statement by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police’s Public Relations Officer, the arrest took place on October 20, 2024, around 6:30 PM. The ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Damaturu received credible information about a potential gunrunner.
This led to a swift operation where a Golf 3 saloon car was stopped, and a search revealed 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 MM ammunition hidden in her luggage.
The suspect is now undergoing serious interrogation as authorities aim to uncover the broader criminal network and the motivation behind the trafficking. The Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, expressed the Command’s dedication to fighting crime and encouraged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement.
Individuals are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station or security agency.
