The Federal Government has initiated the disbursement of N44,000 in minimum wage back pay.
This payment is designated for former participants of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), as reported by NAN.
This step honors a prior commitment linked to the recent increase in corps members’ monthly stipend from N33,000 to N77,000.
Eligible recipients are those who finished their service before the new stipend rate was implemented earlier this year.
Many former corps members have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their positive experiences regarding the payments, expressing their appreciation and relief.
User @Kingpin_black1 remarked: “Thank you NYSC. Thank you President Tinubu. Nigeria is on the path to greatness again.”
Another user, @pharmacist_shezzy, commented: “44k has just been received. NYSC is on top of its game. God bless Nigeria!”
Similarly, @ifeoluwa_X tweeted: “Just received my alert. I almost deleted my NYSC account. Thanks to the FG!”
The initiation of these payments is viewed as a significant fulfillment of the government’s earlier assurances, generating excitement on social media as many laud this action as a renewed sign of trust and responsibility.
