A tragic incident occurred early Monday morning at the Ikeja train station in Lagos State, where a man was killed after being hit by a train.
Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the event in a statement.
According to the report, the man was on the railway tracks heading towards Iyana-Ipaja when he was struck by the moving train.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the location, and the man’s body was subsequently taken to the morgue for further examination.
The statement mentioned, “LASEMA responded to emergency calls received via the 767/112 Toll-Free lines at 08:28 AM, dispatching the Eagle Response Team from Cappa Base.
“Upon their arrival at 09:02 AM, the team found an adult male deceased on the tracks.
“Investigations by the team indicated that he had been hit by a train earlier that morning.
“Sadly, the identity of the deceased man remains unknown.
“The response team carefully recovered the body from the tracks and transferred it to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU).
“SEHMU has since moved the body to the morgue for necessary processing.”
