Husband Arrested for Allegedly Setting Wife on Fire
Ogun State Police have apprehended a man named Olubunmi Johnson after he reportedly set his wife, Kikelomo, on fire in their home.
The alarming event took place at their residence on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, Ota around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, following a conflict between the couple.
A neighbor who saw the tragic incident took action by alerting Kikelomo’s family, who subsequently contacted the police to report what is being treated as an attempted murder case.
Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, provided confirmation of the case to the Punch. She noted that officers from the Ilogbo Division acted swiftly, resulting in the capture of the 55-year-old suspect.
“The husband allegedly soaked his wife’s body in petrol and ignited it with a matchstick. Bystanders immediately took her to the hospital,” she explained.
“Following the report, our detectives sprang into action and detained the husband, who is now in custody.”
