The Abuja Court of Appeal has ousted Musiliu Akinsanya, known as MC Oluomo, from his role as National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

In its ruling, the court confirmed Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate President of NURTW.

This decision reiterated the previous judgment made by the Industrial Court on March 11, 2024, regarding Suit No. NICN/ABJ/263/2023.

The court dismissed the appeal by Najeem Usman Yasin and others that contested the Industrial Court’s acknowledgment of Baruwa as President, deeming it without merit.

In the judgment, referenced as Appeal No. CA/ABJ//CV/293/2024, delivered by a three-judge panel consisting of Justices Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Okwy Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi, Baruwa was declared the duly elected President of NURTW.

Additionally, the appellate court ordered the Appellant to pay N100,000 to the Respondents.

Despite being recently elected, MC Oluomo faced these legal challenges to his presidency.

Baruwa criticized MC Oluomo’s actions as a serious violation of the legal framework and an insult to the judiciary, which he emphasized in a press conference held in Abuja.
