An unfortunate accident occurred in Utu Etim Ekpo, Akwa Ibom State, when a truck carrying flour crashed into local shops, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to four others.
According to Gabriel Akpan, the incident unfolded at approximately 8 PM on Monday.
Akpan explained that the truck driver was attempting to evade soldiers at a roadblock on the Iwukem – Etim Ekpo – Abak Road.
“The truck full of flour was traveling from the Iwukem direction towards Abak when it was signaled to stop by soldiers. However, the driver refused to comply,” he said.
“After the soldiers pursued and eventually overtook the vehicle, the driver still did not stop. The soldiers had to jump aside as the truck sped downhill toward a roundabout, yet it failed to navigate properly,” Akpan added.
“The driver lost control due to high speed and crashed into several makeshift shops by the motor park, leading to the abrupt deaths of innocent victims,” Umanah recounted.
