Julian McMahon, the cherished actor known for his performances in popular series such as Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and FBI: Most Wanted, has sadly passed away at the age of 56 following a private struggle with cancer. He died on July 2 in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by family and friends.
“With a heavy heart, I wish to announce that my dear husband, Julian McMahon, peacefully passed away this week after bravely battling cancer. Julian cherished life, his family, friends, work, and fans. His greatest desire was to spread joy to as many people as he could.”
She also requested privacy during this difficult time, saying, “We appreciate all the beautiful memories.”
Hollywood Responds to McMahon’s Legacy
Born on July 27, 1968, in Sydney, Australia, Julian came from a prominent family; his father, Billy McMahon, served as Australia’s Prime Minister from 1971 to 1972. Julian initially launched his career as a model before making his way into acting, landing roles in Australian soap operas such as The Power, The Passion and Home and Away in the early ’90s.
Hollywood soon beckoned. After a brief stint on Another World, he starred in NBC’s Profiler and later captivated audiences as the demon Cole Turner in the supernatural series Charmed.
However, it was his defining role as Dr. Christian Troy on FX’s Nip/Tuck that propelled McMahon to stardom, garnering him a Golden Globe nomination and a devoted fanbase. Amidst his success on Nip/Tuck, McMahon temporarily shifted gears to portray the antagonist Victor Von Doom in the superhero film Fantastic Four.

Most recently, he played team leader Jess LaCroix in FBI: Most Wanted from 2020 until his poignant departure in 2022. Series creator Dick Wolf expressed his sorrow, stating,
