On November 20, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) conducted the 2024 International Digital Investment Forum in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. This gathering, part of Vietnam International Digital Week 2024, attracted a diverse array of local and international businesses.
The event featured Deputy Minister Phan Tam, alongside various experts and representatives from both domestic and foreign digital technology firms.
The forum comprised three key discussions:
1. Promoting Digital Investment Policies in the Current Era
2. Exploring Vietnam’s Digital Investment Potential
3. Building a Digital Investment Ecosystem
During the opening session, attendees reviewed the overall condition and future outlook of Vietnam’s digital sector. The industry boasted a revenue of $150 billion and included 67,500 companies, with 1,500 engaging in international operations.
Vietnam is renowned for its robust workforce, being ranked among the world’s top 10 for programming skills and generating a substantial number of engineering graduates each year. The country also offers appealing incentives for the digital tech industry.
Deputy Minister Phan Tam highlighted the transformative impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, pointing out that digital technology has become a core element of production and a major factor in socio-economic progress.
Since 2020, Vietnam has drawn close to $3 billion in funding for about 1,000 digital technology initiatives from over 50 countries. Renowned tech companies like Intel, Samsung, Apple, and Amkor have made significant investments in Vietnam, promising even more in the future.
These statistics reflect the high appeal and growth opportunities present in Vietnam’s tech sector, according to Deputy Minister Phan Tam. He reiterated the nation’s dedication to creating a transparent, innovative business climate and enhancing global collaboration to boost the digital technology industry.
On the same day, additional events included workshops focused on policy suggestions to strengthen trust in services across ASEAN and meetings of ASEAN information officials. These were part of the broader Vietnam International Digital Week, jointly organized by the MIC and Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee from November 19-22.
