Nestled about 25 kilometers from Thai Binh City, Bac Trach Church, situated in Van Truong Commune of Tien Hai District, has emerged as a favored spot for both locals and tourists alike.
Spanning 92.5 meters in length and 32 meters in width, the church boasts two towering bell towers reaching 61 meters tall. The largest bell tips the scales at three tons, while a striking clock at the main entrance measures four meters in diameter.
Renowned for its impressive dimensions and beautiful design, Bac Trach Church stands out as one of the finest churches in Northern Vietnam and has established itself as an iconic site in Thai Binh, drawing visitors from various regions.
Nguyen Trong Cung, a 31-year-old local photographer and traditional medicine practitioner, visited the church in late October.
He was immediately impressed by the church’s vastness along with its distinctive features, such as the intricate windows, sharp spires, and elegant domes inspired by Gothic architecture.
“The interior architectural space is equally stunning, though access requires permission. Still, anyone can wander around and take pictures of the outside,” Cung noted.
Many describe Bac Trach Church as a breathtaking castle come to life, adorned with complex and beautiful decorations that leave a lasting impression.
With a myriad of picturesque viewpoints, visitors can snap photos resembling scenes from Europe from various angles around the church.
Photographer Trong Cung advises visiting the church early in the morning or at sunset for optimal photography conditions. During these times, the atmosphere is cool and the light soft, creating a tranquil yet majestic feel.
He also encourages guests to explore the nearby arching bamboo grove, which serves as a charming entrance, and to check out other attractions in Tien Hai District, like Con Vanh Beach and Dong Chau Beach.
As noted on Wikipedia, Bac Trach Church took seven years to build, officially opening in October 2013. Its design incorporates Gothic elements complemented by Greek-inspired architecture on both sides.
