Jose Mourinho is well-known for his candid approach throughout his successful coaching career at some of Europe’s leading clubs.

The Portuguese manager has amassed numerous accolades and ruffled a few feathers along the way, with his current stint at Fenerbahce already sparking significant attention.

Mourinho took the helm of the Turkish Super Lig team in June after departing AS Roma at the beginning of 2024.

At 61, he is making headlines for his comments about players hesitating to join Turkish clubs from Europe, along with facing a fine and a ban from the sidelines after criticizing referees during Fenerbahce’s recent 3-2 victory against Trabzonspor.

A new development in Mourinho’s time in Turkey involves his response to speculation about the club potentially signing his former Real Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo, in 2025, as Ronaldo’s future with Al Nassr remains unclear.

“The rumors about Cristiano joining Fenerbahce are absurd. He might visit Istanbul for a meal since it’s conveniently located between Saudi Arabia and Portugal. Or perhaps he’ll come to see his old friend Jose, and we can dine at my hotel!” Mourinho stated, according to Goal.com.

Contract Status of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr

The talk of a reunion between Mourinho and Ronaldo has surfaced amid questions regarding Ronaldo’s next club move.

His current contract with Al Nassr is set to expire in June 2025, allowing him to depart as a free agent if he doesn’t sign an extension.

Even though reuniting with Mourinho is appealing—having previously won a La Liga title together during their time in Madrid—Ronaldo is likely to stay in Riyadh.

Reports suggest that Al Nassr is considering offering Ronaldo a one-year contract extension through the end of the 2025/26 season, with a further option for an additional year.

This arrangement would help the 39-year-old work towards his goal of leading Portugal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
