Pep Guardiola Unveils Crucial Element Influencing De Bruyne’s Man City Destiny

Pep Guardiola reveals key factor that will decide Kevin De Buyne

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has provided an important update regarding Kevin De Bruyne’s status with the club.

De Bruyne has made his return after dealing with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two months. The club is now faced with a significant decision regarding his future in the upcoming months.

At 33 years old, he has become an iconic figure at the Etihad Stadium, being regarded as one of the top midfielders globally and a key player in Guardiola’s successful Premier League strategies.

As his contract nears its conclusion at the end of the season, fans are curious to see if the Belgian star will choose to extend his time with the club for the 2025/26 season.

Latest on Kevin De Bruyne’s Contract with Man City

If De Bruyne does not agree to a contract extension, he will be able to exit Manchester City as a free agent when the season concludes.

The season of 2024/25 marks De Bruyne’s 11th year at the club, where he has achieved 103 goals in 391 matches, along with securing six league titles and one UEFA Champions League title.

Despite the lack of clarity on a potential contract renewal and concerns about recurring hamstring issues, Guardiola acknowledged De Bruyne’s physical challenges but emphasized that he deserves the autonomy to determine his career path.

“I’m not sure. It’s Kevin’s decision. Whether he decides at the end of this season or the next, similar to David Silva, he will choose the right time for himself and the team,” Guardiola stated, as reported by BBC Sport.

“He wouldn’t want to be in a position where he can’t play regularly. When he is fit, he must be on the pitch.”

Regarding his future, De Bruyne was asked ahead of City’s upcoming Champions League match against Feyenoord and mentioned, “I don’t know” what lies ahead after this season.

“If there are no discussions, then this will be my final year… I just want to focus on playing good football, and we’ll see what happens next.”
