Matt LeBlanc is reportedly feeling deeply affected by the passing of Matthew Perry, leading him to contemplate significant life changes, including a potential retirement from acting to focus on aspects of life he finds more meaningful than his current career.
Perry, who was LeBlanc’s co-star on Friends from 1994 to 2004, was discovered deceased at his residence in California. His death on October 28 appeared to involve an overdose, with additional complicating factors such as drowning and heart disease.
The news of his passing has left fans and co-stars in mourning, with LeBlanc, aged 57, reportedly struggling to cope and showing changes in his appearance and habits as he processes everything.
A source revealed to RadarOnline.com, “Matt is still grappling with Matthew’s death. He lost an important part of his life and a dear friend.”
They added, “This has prompted him to reassess what truly matters to him now.”
LeBlanc’s Self-Care Neglect Following Perry’s Passing
In Friends, LeBlanc played Joey Tribbiani, whose dynamic with Perry‘s Chandler Bing became iconic, marked by their humorous camaraderie over the show’s ten seasons.
However, since the last reunion special in 2021, he has not taken on any new roles and was last seen publicly on October 30 with his daughter, Marina.
Previously, he also hosted BBC’s Top Gear after the original trio exited the show due to a dispute.
Another insider commented, “Matt feels almost retired now and doesn’t seem concerned about his appearance or health.”
They continued, “He has been in a dark place since Matthew’s passing, and this may have triggered weight gain, reflecting a troubling parallel to Perry’s own struggles. He’s always had a larger frame, but now he’s quite unhealthy.”
Despite achieving success and wealth, he seems to be having difficulty finding purpose after losing various close friends, which has made him perceive material possessions as insignificant.
A source explained, “The loss of friends has led Matt to think about how he and his Friends co-stars are viewed as fleeting figures. He’s immensely wealthy, but currently, he finds no significant meaning in his life.”
