Mariah Carey, the renowned singer, is set to reveal troubling family secrets in a forthcoming hearing related to a $1.25 million defamation lawsuit filed by her brother, Morgan Carey.
The 55-year-old star may share insights about her unsettling childhood marked by her mother’s behavior following their father’s departure when she was just three. This left the family in a vulnerable position both financially and emotionally.
Sources indicate that Mariah experienced a turbulent upbringing, heavily influenced by her mother and marred by pervasive drug use within the household, often leaving Mariah and her siblings to navigate their challenges alone.
Morgan, 64, has made alarming allegations that both Mariah and their sister, Alison, were subjected to sinister rituals and animal sacrifices orchestrated by their mother. These claims are expected to surface during the trial, with the initial session coming in January, where Mariah will answer questions under oath from her brother’s attorney, Richard Roth.
The investigation will likely probe into details from Mariah’s memoir, titled ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’, which has already ignited significant controversy.
Mariah Carey’s memoir leads to familial litigation
Morgan initiated legal action against Mariah in 2021 after she accused him of past acts of violence and drug-related offenses.
“Most of the time, I felt like I needed to shield myself from him, and I often found myself protecting my mother,” Mariah noted. “It was widely known that [Morgan] was heavily involved in the Manhattan nightlife, often possessing and supplying cocaine.”
Denouncing these claims, Morgan labeled them as harmful and inaccurate: “They are false, defamatory, and deeply invasive and painful.”
The family strife intensified recently with the simultaneous deaths of their mother, Patricia, 63, and Alison, who struggled with addiction, in August. This incident has prompted additional legal disputes related to Mariah’s memoir.
Despite the turmoil, Mariah is fully engaged in her Christmas activities, known for her seasonal contributions, as she markets holiday decoration ideas and products on Amazon while promoting her iconic song, ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’, which generates around $3 million annually.
A close source remarked, “The only Christmas wish for Mariah right now is to put an end to this family turmoil!” while she navigates through the challenges of revealing her troubled past.
