In a heartfelt moment during his concert in Wolverhampton, England, on November 29, Zayn Malik honored the memory of the late Liam Payne. While performing as part of his Stairway to the Sky tour, Malik dedicated the song “It’s You” to Payne, marking his first public acknowledgment of his friend’s untimely death.
Malik addressed the audience, saying, “Every night I’ve been dedicating something to my brother Liam Payne,” which resonated deeply with the crowd, as shown in videos shared on X (formerly Twitter). He added, “Rest in peace. I hope you see this. We’re in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton. This is for you, Liam.”
Sadly, Payne passed away at the age of 31 on October 16 after a tragic incident in Buenos Aires, Argentina, sparking a wave of mourning among fans and fellow musicians.
Malik’s Ongoing Tributes to Liam
This emotional tribute was not Malik’s only acknowledgment of Payne during the tour. At his concert in Leeds on November 23, he displayed a poignant message on a big screen while performing “Stardust.”
The screen read, “Liam Payne 1993-2024, Love you bro,” set against a blue background with a red heart, moving many fans to tears.
Additionally, in light of Payne’s passing, Malik has adjusted his upcoming career plans. He chose to postpone his U.S. tour dates, expressing the need for time to grieve and asking for fans’ understanding during this difficult time.
