A 63-year-old plumber named Akin Kuboye was saved from a well by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in the Igando area of the city.
Kuboye found himself in danger while working in a well that was 120 meters deep behind a 14-room bungalow.
This information was shared by the fire agency’s Director, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, on Sunday in Lagos.
She stated that the incident took place at 9:54 a.m. on Sunday at 20, Muyibi Adebayo Street, off Agric Road, Egan–Igando, Lagos.
The rescue team acted promptly in response to a distress call, successfully saving the plumber.
“Upon reaching the emergency site, the team discovered that the man accidentally became trapped while working in a well located behind a bungalow with 14 variously sized rooms, covering a total area of about 648 square meters,” she said.
“Thanks to the efforts of the Ejigbo Rescue crew, the plumber was brought out alive from the well,” she added.
Adeseye confirmed that the plumber was later transferred to LASAMBUS, who managed his treatment for the effects of the ammonia before he was taken to the hospital.
