Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has accused his adversaries of using Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State as a pawn against him.

This assertion was made during an interview on Monday.

Having served as Rivers State’s governor for eight years, Wike played a key role in Fubara’s rise to power.

While speaking at his monthly press conference in Abuja, Wike criticized Fubara’s approach and mentioned that he has not yet connected with other important figures in the state.

He noted that he has not seen the suspended governor since their last meeting in Abuja.

He expressed, “Here is someone who provided for you, yet you’ve become a weapon for his adversaries to use against him.”

“We all desire peace – of course, everyone agrees peace is essential – but how would you feel knowing all the sacrifices you made to give your child an education, only to have them turn against you? Is it something you can easily forget?”

“You nurtured your child, ensured they had a good education, and worked tirelessly to meet their needs. Yet one night, they return with thieves – as if your time is up – and by some grace, you survived.”

“When others come to plead on his behalf, he is your child – I acknowledge that.”
