The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has left Dubai heading to Saudi Arabia, where he attended the commissioning of a major oil production and storage facility valued at $315 million, developed by Oriental Energy Limited (OERL), on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This information was shared in a statement on Saturday by Stanley Nkwocha, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications in the Office of the Vice President.
At the Dubai event, Shettima was accompanied by notable figures, including the Executive Chairman of OERL, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, and Executive Vice Chairman Engr. Goni M. Sheikh. OERL officials and other stakeholders were present to bid him farewell at the airport.
After the Dubai event, the Vice President is set to undertake the Lesser Hajj (Umrah) in the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah, taking place from December 16 to 19, 2024, with the guidance of Professor Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State.
On December 20, Shettima will engage in a high-profile meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah, where the agenda will revolve around co-financing for Nigeria’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ Phase II) and improving the coordination of IsDB’s initiatives in Nigeria.
Nkwocha noted that this meeting aims to enhance the partnership between the IsDB and Nigeria, focusing on boosting the agricultural sector and overall economic growth.
