The website of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has been compromised.
This was confirmed by the agency on its social media account on Wednesday, December 18.
The NBS is actively working to restore the site and has advised the public to ignore any content or information displayed there until the restoration is complete.
“We want to alert the public that the NBS Website has been hacked and we are making efforts to recover it. Kindly disregard any posted messages or reports until the website is back up. Thank you,” the NBS stated.
The NBS serves as Nigeria’s main entity for gathering, analyzing, and distributing statistical data.
Recently, the bureau released essential reports, including the Nigerian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report for Q3 2024, detailing the country’s economic performance, the Nigeria Labour Force Survey (NLFS) for Q2 2024, which presents insights into employment trends, and the Consumer Price Index for November 2024, reflecting the latest inflation data, among others.
In its November report, the NBS indicated a year-on-year GDP growth of 3.46 percent in real terms for the third quarter of 2024.
